Big Bad Wolf Book Sale: What We Bought

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 1

Guess how much I love books and good bargains? Enough to forgo 3 hours of precious sleep, apparently. Just yesterday, Joey and I left the house at midnight to go to the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, which is touted as the world's biggest book sale, open 24 hours a day. The twins were already asleep then and my mom offered to watch them so we could avoid the huge crowds (Thanks, Ma! We love you!). Our primary purpose was to look for fun and educational board books for the twins. Was the midnight shopping trip worth it? Absolutely! We were able to get 13 books for only P1,860. Here's what we bought:

My First Colours
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 2

This book is great for introducing colors to babies with the help of common objects of that color. It shows numbers in both English and French. There's even a pronunciation guide for the French terms which will help babies learn a new language.

My First Shapes
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 3

I love how this book has clear labels and bold illustrations which help babies identify basic shapes easily. Its rounded edges are safe for baby's delicate hands and its super thick pages are strong enough to withstand a teething baby's chewing.

My Book of Opposites
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 4

Big and small, loud and quiet. This book is great for introducing the concept of opposites. It uses illustrations which little ones can understand and remember easily.

Baby Touch: Smile! Buggy Book
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 5

This tiny book is meant to keep babies entertained while out and about. It has a red strap and ring that can be attached to a stroller. Each spread contains a smiling face with the last one being a mirror where baby can see himself smile. We bought two copies of this book because the twins use separate single strollers.

First Colours and First Words Buggy Books

These books can also be attached to baby's stroller for on-the-go entertainment. It introduces baby to simple words (ball, car, dog) and basic colors through high-contrast pictures. These are the cheapest books in our haul. At P190 a set, each book comes out at P95. What a great deal, right?

Look and Learn: Busy Day
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 7

This book is great for teaching baby about the activities that go on during a busy day from waking up, eating and playing, to getting ready for bedtime.

Please: Do You Know The Magic Word?
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 8

This book is perfect for helping little ones understand when to use the magic word: "please."

My Easter Bible Story Book
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 9

The cute Precious Moments illustrations were more than enough to convince me to buy this book. It features prayers and Bible stories written in a language that makes it easy for kids to learn about the story of Jesus and God's love for them.

Guess How Much I Love You: Counting
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 10

A great introduction to counting which teaches kids the numbers 1 to 5 with Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare.

Little Friends Say... Let's Share!
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 11

This book shows kids examples of how to share. It also helps them discover that sharing is easy and fun. I'm excited to teach the twins about sharing using this book.

When I Grow Up
Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 12

This book helps kids learn about different occupations using rhymes, colourful illustrations and flip faces to show different expressions.

Are you planning to shop the sale? If you are, you still have until February 25 to do so. Try to allot a minimum of 2 hours for book hunting alone. The books are sorted properly by genre with accompanying signs, but there are just so many books to be seen! Checkout is pretty easy as they have 42 counters set up (both cash and card payments are accepted). The folks over at Big Bad Wolf are also very helpful especially in looking for titles even at 2AM. They will also be around if you need help carrying your books to your car. Happy shopping!
