Baby Toys That Are A Hit For Ages 3 to 6 Months

baby toys 6 months ball rattle

Toy shopping for babies is a little tricky. When my twins were only a few weeks old, they were more interested in lying down, drinking milk, crying (too interested in this if you ask me), and staring at my and Joey's faces than playing with toys. But when they turned 3 months old, they started to become very curious about their surroundings. They began reaching for toys, mouthing them, and exploring different textures.

Here are the toys that kept my twin babies entertained from 3 to 6 months old, with some of them still on rotation even now that they're already over a year old.

Playgro Twisting Barbell Rattle

The twins enjoy shaking and twisting their rattles to make sounds. It's a great toy for practicing baby's grasping and shaking skills. Its textures are also great for teething. Find a similar one here.

classic oball
The twins loved chewing on their Oballs from the start. The holes made grasping the ball easier for their tiny 3-month-old hands. I personally love them because they're lightweight and soft, giving me less to worry about when it comes to boo-boos. Now that they're toddlers, they love tossing and kicking their Oballs. We have the classic Oball but you can find the Oball rattle here. It's just like the classic Oball but with embedded rattle beads.

Imagination Discovery Sensory Ball

This ball is larger and heavier than the Oball and requires the twins to hold it using both hands. The knobbed texture is great because it encourages their sense of touch and helps them hold the ball easier. Now that they're a bit older, the twins enjoy bouncing, throwing and rolling their sensory ball. I imagine that as they grow bigger, they will be able to try dribbling, catching and kicking it too.

Lamaze Soft Books

I bought the twins Lamaze soft books as their first toys. Antonino has Captain Calamari and Audrey has Tilly Twinklewings. Both books have different textures and make crunchy, crinkly sounds that babies love. You can get similar soft books here.

Marcus and Marcus Teethers
The twins love biting and chewing on their Marcus the Lion and Lola the Giraffe teethers until now. Aside from soothing their gums, the attached textured ring makes it easy for babies to hold. A major plus is that the teethers don't have any holes that can trap bacteria.

What toys kept your 3 to 6-month-old baby entertained? I would love to hear them in the comments below.
