Guess how much I love books and good bargains? Enough to
forgo 3 hours of precious sleep, apparently. Just yesterday, Joey and I left
the house at midnight to go to the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, which is touted as
the world's biggest book sale, open 24 hours a day. The twins were already
asleep then and my mom offered to watch them so we could avoid the huge
crowds (Thanks, Ma! We love you!). Our primary purpose was to look for fun and educational board books for the twins. Was the midnight shopping trip worth it?
Absolutely! We were able to get 13 books for only P1,860. Here's what we bought:
My First Colours
This book is great for introducing colors to babies with the help of common objects of that color. It shows numbers in both English and French. There's even a pronunciation guide for the French terms which will help babies learn a new language.
My First Shapes
I love how this book has clear labels and bold illustrations which help babies identify basic shapes easily. Its rounded edges are safe for baby's delicate hands and its super thick pages are strong enough to withstand a teething baby's chewing.
My Book of Opposites
Big and small, loud and quiet. This book is great for introducing the concept of opposites. It uses illustrations which little ones can understand and remember easily.
Baby Touch: Smile! Buggy Book
This tiny book is meant to keep babies entertained while out and about. It has a red strap and ring that can be attached to a stroller. Each spread contains a smiling face with the last one being a mirror where baby can see himself smile. We bought two copies of this book because the twins use separate single strollers.
First Colours and First Words Buggy Books
These books can also be attached to baby's stroller for on-the-go entertainment. It introduces baby to simple words (ball, car, dog) and basic colors through high-contrast pictures. These are the cheapest books in our haul. At P190 a set, each book comes out at P95. What a great deal, right?
Look and Learn: Busy Day
Please: Do You Know The Magic Word?
This book shows kids examples of how to share. It also helps them discover that sharing is easy and fun. I'm excited to teach the twins about sharing using this book.
