One thing I was looking forward to when I found out I was pregnant with twins was dressing them up in cute matching onesies. But when Audrey and Antonino came out, I realized that when dressing babies, cute and stylish take a backseat to practical and efficient.
Like all newborn babies, Audrey and Antonino's neck muscles were still a bit weak when we brought them home so anything that we had to pull over their heads was out of the question. The basic white cotton side-tie shirt became our favorite clothing item for them. It was easy to put on and take off. We were lucky my sister-in-law bought tons of them for the twins in sleeveless and shortsleeve style. We would use the sleeveless ones during the day and the short sleeved ones at night when it's cooler.
When the twins turned 3 months old, they began to outgrow their side tie shirts. And since their heads were no longer as wobbly, we tried dressing them in cute cotton onesies. The onesies were great since they also provided easy access for diaper changes. They were pure cotton too which meant they were cool and comfortable to wear. But then, the summer heat suddenly peaked and Audrey and Antonino began sweating through their clothes! We had to keep changing their clothes almost as often as their nappies. I was so worried that they might get sick or develop a prickly heat rash from all the sweating. Then, I remembered the twins received Uniqlo mesh onesies from 2 of their godparents last Christmas. At that time, they were still too big so I put them away for future use.
Let me just say that those mesh onesies were heaven-sent! The holes in the fabric allow air to pass in and out so no more sweaty baby backs! And since they were in newborn size, they had side snaps which made dressing the twins so much easier! There's even an added baby-friendly feature of having the care labels sewn on the outside so that they won't touch baby's sensitive skin. How cool is it that the folks at Uniqlo even thought about that?! One pack contains two onesies - one solid colored and one printed. Audrey's printed onesie had tiny pink flowers while Antonino's had tiny blue and green trucks. A cotton mesh onesie with side snaps printed with tiny flowers or tiny trucks - we finally found baby clothing that's both cute and practical.

Joey and I decided to buy more mesh onesies because we saw how comfortable Audrey and Antonino were in them. At the store, we discovered they came in neutral colors too like white, gray, yellow and green which were perfect because the twins could share. There were also other prints like stars and polkadots. They also came in bigger sizes which have envelope flaps instead of side snaps. The biggest size could fit a 2-year old child. We got everything 2 sizes bigger so they could be worn longer. Now the twins use their mesh onesies everyday. We also pack a few pieces in our diaper bag wherever we go in case it gets too hot. They're really the best choice for summer and our tropical weather.
