Exactly a year ago, a sleep-deprived mom hit the publish
button for the first time and posted an article about motherhood. Yup, the
sleep-deprived mom is me. At that time, I didn't really know what I was doing.
Motherhood is truly the best and most fulfilling job but it's also the
craziest, most demanding role I have ever taken on. They say that sometimes you
need laugh so you don't cry. I guess I took the saying to heart and tried to
find humor in every sleepless night and poop explosion that came with being a
new mom.
So in honor of my first year of blogging, I put together a list of ten things new moms (and even dads) should know, aka the stuff they don't tell you in parenting books. Hope this list helps you see what parenting is: fun and beautiful, difficult and overwhelming, but most of all, really hilarious.
10 THINGS NEW PARENTS SHOULD KNOW
Relaxing or sitting down for a meal is guaranteed to wake a sleeping baby.
Baby's first mama/dada will surely melt your heart even if
you know he/she is just babbling.
Sick days will never be the same again.
Make sure to brush up on animal noises because it will help
develop your baby's language skills. Moo, baaaaaa, oink.
If baby is wearing a special outfit, he/she is likely to
have a big blowout.
You will be surprised at all the baby poop stories you will
be able to tell.
Your laundry will triple.
You will develop the special skill of showering and getting
ready to leave in ten minutes.
You will realize that there are a million things you would
be willing to swap for a full night of sleep.
You don't have to enjoy every second of parenthood. There are times when parenthood is just tough but try to enjoy the incredible moments like the first time your baby rolls over or recognizes and smiles at you.
